Fragments

Fragments is based on the 'evidence' from archaeological excavations that have revealed so much about the way our prehistoric ancestors lived.

The background lace is in subtle shades of natural - often it is only 'shadows' on the natural soil colouring that tell archaeologists that something else was once present.

The three dimensional lace has been dipped in slip clay and biscuit fired, leaving it solid but very fragile. This references the fragments of pots, bones and impliments were solid enough to survive centuries in the ground but are very vulnerable once removed. It is these fragments that tell archaeologists so much about our past.
