Abandoned

January and February are daffodil season in Penwith, the entrances to some fields are littered with small elastic bands that have fallen by the wayside or been turned out of pickers pockets at the end of the day. Eventually they will get swallowed up by the earth. What will future archaeologists make of them if they dig in these fields, will traces of pollen give away the fact that daffodils were grown and harvested here?
